Whitehouse Properties purchased the White House Hotel property in 1989 with the objective of preserving the historic character of the structure and renovating the property into a high quality, waterfront hotel. The structure is included in Mississippi’s Heritage Fund and identified as one of the State’s “10 Most Endangered Places”. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, RESG completed a market and financial feasibility analysis of the proposed 144-room hotel with luxury amenities. A public/private financial structure is being analyzed to benefit from post-Katrina financial incentives that may be available to the owner of the property, including state funds and tax incentives.
